My New CBV Organization

Hello everyone! Today was a somewhat winter-cleaning day. I bought a new shoe rack and a new little plastic drawer organizer, so it was an organizing frenzy in my room!
I finally got a little set up for my candles and scent shots from Candles by Victoria. Before this, they were all sitting in a box from one of my orders, which definitely wasn't cutting it.
My collection isn't the biggest, but I have a feeling it's only growing from here on out. I just ordered 34 scent shots the other day, so I'm hoping they'll all fit!
This is a picture of my little set up:
It is set up on my dresser. The picture you see is of my lovely boyfriend, and the black object is my jewelry box. (What's burning is my mini in Wintery Candy Apple). To the very left of my plastic organizer are my two 8oz candles and my one 9oz candle. On the top I have a black candle warmer and my Mustard Jar in Granny's Pie Crust that my boyfriend got me for Christmas. In the first drawer I have bakery scents, in the second are fruity/perfume-y/fresh, and in the third I have my mini candles and my earthy/Christmas scents. (If you guys want a full collection picture and post I can make one!)

So that's my little CBV station! I hope you guys got some ideas. I'm afraid of what I'm going to have to do once my collection starts multiplying. If you have any ideas I'd love to hear them! Thanks for reading :)

My Latest Order!

Hi everyone! Sorry I've been absent. I literally havent been able to burn or melt anything at all for the past week...I've been way too busy Christmas shopping. And, speaking of Christmas shopping, I placed an order on CBV to get a couple gifts and some stuff for myself as well. I thought I would make a short little post sharing what I ordered. It should be here on Wednesday!
This is what I picked up:

Scent Shots, Vanilla Bean Noel : 1 : 2.00 (To mix with Spearmint & try Jack Frost!)
Mini Jelly Jar Candle, Sweet Snow : 1 : 5.00
Mini Jelly Jar Candle, Granny's Pie Crust : 1 : 5.00
16 oz. Country Jar Candle, Me Tarzan, You Jane : 1 : 12.50 (Gift)
Scent Shots, Sugared Corn Pudding : 1 : 2.00
Mini Jelly Jar Candle, Apple Vanilla : 1 : 5.00 (Gift)
Mini Jelly Jar Candle, Wintery Candy Apple : 1 : 5.00
Scent Shots, Spearmint : 1 : 2.00
Thoughts? I've already tried Granny's Pie Crust. It's my number one favorite scent! My boyfriend said he'll get me CBV for my birthday coming up in January, and I'm asking for a mustard jar in GPC, but I couldn't be without this scent so I had to pick up a mini jelly jar in it.
Thank you for reading and I hope you guys are having a good Sunday!

CBV Scent Review: Sugared Spruce

Hello! There's only 13 days until Christmas, so I decided to finally break out a somewhat Christmas-y scent; Sugared Spruce. First off, we always get a real Christmas tree, and my house smells like it all Christmas season because of it...so I wasn't sure if I should get a scent that would smell like one, since my house already smells of pine. But...everyone was raving about this scent, so I decided to pick it up...and I'm really glad I did. My boyfriend and I decorated the tree & melted a 1/4 of this scent shot at the same time...and it was awesome. Haha.
The CBV scent description is: Sugared Spruce: A most unique scent that combines sweetness and greenery. If you are looking for something a little different this is the one.
It's supposed to be a mixture of Pink Sugar and a Christmas tree scent I believe.
This is definitely a good pine scent. Not pine sol, which is what it smelled like when I first got it, but now that it's cured it's fine. It has that perfume-y note to it that makes it a little less strong on the pine, but by no means is this scent "weak." It's a really, really strong scent. My boyfriend even said it's the strongest one we've melted...and it was only a 1/4...if that, really. Although it is strong, it doesn't really bother me since I like to really smell my candles & scent shots.
Even though this smells like pine, I don't think it's specific to Christmas. I think it's a good scent for all year. It's fresh and green.
Another scent I really enjoy...and I didn't think I would, either. I definitely think everyone should give this one a try.
I hope everyone is getting excited for Christmas! Have a good day :)

12/7/11 Scent of the Day: Cookies for Santa

Hi guys! I know, I know...lack of posting...but I seriously haven't burned or melted anything since my last scent of the day post! Busy busy busy, I am.
I was finally able to burn my Cookies for Santa 9oz candle today.

She's a beauty :)

The CBV description for Cookies for Santa is: Cookies For Santa~ Sweet and delicious, if Santa doesn't want them I do!!

It doesn't say too much...but what it does say, is true! This scent is so yummy. It smells really good on cold throw; like a snickerdoodle. When you warm it or melt it, it smells even better. I get a really good sweet, sugar cookie scent with light cinnamon (and not a red hots cinnamon, either). This scent is really really good, especially for the holidays. A nice Christmas bakery scent. I think it's good for the whole year, too. I know I melt it all year long haha.

Overall, one of my favorite scents. And I know I'm not the only one :) This is a have to try scent and I suggest it to everyone!

Hope everyone is doing well...only 18 days until Christmas!

CBV Scent Review: French Vanilla Pear

Hi everyone! Sorry I've been a little absent. My dad is finally home from working and as you guys know he's not a fan of candles, so I haven't been able to melt or burn anything, therefore not being able to do scent of the day's.
I melted this scent for the first time a few days ago so I figured I would just do a scent review.
CBV description of French Vanilla Pear: A sweet blend of Bartlett Pears and rich French Vanilla.
I think the description fits this perfectly...on cold throw. I was in love with this scent when I first got it. Cold, it smells fresh and candy-like sweet with vanilla. Not too fresh, not too sugary.
However, when I warmed this, all i got was bubblegum! I didn't get pear or vanilla; just bubblegum. That being said, I don't love it as much as I did cold throw but I still really like it. It definitely takes on a different life when warmed though.
I hope everyone is doing well. Even though I may not be able to burn or melt any new scents for a few days or maybe longer, I plan on doing reviews of scents I've already tried.
Have a good weekend!

11/29/11 Scent Of The Day: Marshmallow Campfire

Hello! I hope everyone is having a good week so far. Today I'm melting Marshmallow Campfire. This is probably going to be a short review since this scent isn't too complicated to explain for me.
The CBV description is: Marshmallow Campfire: Just as the name suggests, toasted marshmallows over an open fire.
When I smell it cold, I don't get any of the campfire scent; just the sweet vanilla "marshmallow" scent. However, when my boyfriend smelled it he said "this one smells woodsy." So once again, different noses smell different things :)
When warmed, I get a strong musky, vanilla scent. It doesn't necessarily smell just like a marshmallow to me, but I still really enjoy it. My boyfriend says it's definitely a "night-time" scent, which I could agree with because it is a musky scent to me. It's strong, too.
I like this one and I know quite a few people enjoy it as well :)
I recommend this one!

11/28/11 Scent Of The Day: Spellbound

Hi everyone! Hope everyone's Monday was nice to them :)
So, if any of you ladies know me, you probably know Spellbound is one of my favorite scents from Victoria.
To get started, the CBV description is: (in fruity, not bakery) Spellbound ~ When you think of fun you think of Cotton Candy! We have taken the aroma of sweet, fresh spun cotton candy and combined with fresh tart granny smith apples to create this super fun and unique fragrance. Spell Bound begins with top notes of tart granny smith apples and creamy butter, followed by a middle note of caramel sauce all sitting on base notes of vanilla, maple and spun sugar!
In my scent shot, all I got was the cotton candy and apple (which by the way - I'm in love with Victoria's apple scents...so fruity and fresh!). When I got my 8oz candle which I'm burning right now, all I got was caramel and apple. When it's warm, I get all of these notes! I get the fresh granny smith apple, the sweetness of the cotton candy, & the caramel-y goodness. I can smell vanilla, and the maple sort of blends in with the caramel to me, & I don't think I can detect the sugar away from the cotton candy.
This combination is amazing. Smells just like a caramel apple with cotton candy. I absolutely love it! Oh, and might I add, it's a GORGEOUS deep purple color. Everyone needs to try this scent out. Perfection! :)

11/26/11 Scent Of The Day: Pumpkin Pralines

Hi everyone! I have another scent of the day review. Today I'm melting Pumpkin Pralines.
CBV Description: Pumpkin Pralines ~ Creamy rich pumpkin with a hit of spice mixed with our amazing Caramelized Pralines and a hint of caramel to round out this amazing fragrance.
Perfect description once again :)
When I first got this, all I smelled was the pumpkin scent. The same thing happened to me with Pumpkin Frappuccino; all I got was pumpkin. So, I'm thinking this may be a trend with her pumpkin scents...you just gotta let them cure a little :)
First off, Victoria's pumpkin scents are amazing. They're so authentic and nice. I absolutely love them.
Onto this specific scent...it's a new favorite. I love caramelized pralines, but sometimes it can be a little too strong. With this one, the caramelized pralines scent is perfectly balanced out with the pumpkin. It's good cold, but once it's warm it's perfection! I thought this would only be good for fall, but warm, I think this scent is perfect for all year.
I strongly recommend this one.
Hope you're all having a good weekend!

11/24/11 Scent Of The Day: Autumn Leaves/Happy Thanksgiving!

Hello everyone!
Happy Thanksgiving! I hope everyone is having an awesome time with family. I'm not feeling too good so I stayed home :( But all is well.
Today I'm melting Autumn Leaves.
CBV Description: Smell this one with your eyes shut and you'll be reminded of a cool, sunny fall afternoon. Note that this is not a burning leaves fragrance. This one is green and musky with heavy notes of bergamot and is simply a must have for the fall season.
The description is pretty dead on in my opinion. This scent is SO unique. I was so curious how leaves had a scent, but when I smell this, I smell leaves! To me it doesn't remind of necessarily of a "sunny" day, it smells more like it just rained kinda leaves scent if that makes sense....haha. I didn't think I would want my room to smell like this when I first got it even though I liked it, but now that it's melting, it's an awesome, awesome scent! I definitely recommend this one.
Hope everyone has a good day,
-Kaycee

11/23/11 Scent Of The Day: Pumpkin Apple Cinnamon Bread

Happy Thanksgiving Eve everyone! I hope everyone has an awesome holiday.
I won't be able to melt/burn any new scents for awhile since my dad & family will be over. (My dad despises candles so I just burn them when he's away).
Today I'm trying out Pumpkin Apple Cinnamon Bread.
The CBV description is: Sweet creamy pumpkin, rich cinnamon apple with a crunchy strudel base note.
On cold throw to me this smells like that average "Country Bumpkin" scent, which to me smells like cold apple cider...which isn't my favorite.
When warm, I get more of that "bread" kind of note, which smells like a sweet strudel-y type scent. I don't get too much pumpkin. I still get that cold apple cider scent with a somewhat bakery note.
While this isn't one of my favorites and I won't be getting it in a candle, it's growing on me. This is a really good fall scent, but I wouldn't classify it as bakery. More of a house blend type of scent to me.
I would say you should try it out! It's pretty raved about on the message boards too. Maybe my nose just isn't picking up the pumpkin scent.
Have a great Thanksgiving and I'll be talking to you soon!

11/22/11 Scent Of The Day: Cinnamon Donuts

Hello everyone! I'm trying to melt some of my scent shots from my last order to see which ones I want to get in candles, and this is definitely one of them!
Cinnamon Donuts CBV Description: A treat that will keep you coming back for more. This is a wonderful bakery scent .. light on the cinnamon but heavy on the yummy!!
The perfect description for this scent. It's not a "red hots" cinnamon; it's a light cinnamon with sugary notes in it. You can smell the "donut" doughy part of the scent with the cinnamon and sugar. It smells exactly like a cinnamon, sugary donut. I LOVE this one.
A little side note: I put less than a 1/4 in my warmer and it filled my ENTIRE house. Really strong and really yummy. Awesome bakery scent!

11/15/11 Scent of the Day: Apple Cider

Let me start off this mini type of review by saying this scent is the most nostalgic scent I've ever smelled, which I love. The color of this is green, which I found odd, but now I love! It's different, and I like it.
This is the most accurate hot apple cider scent I've smelled. It smells hot, not cold. I don't know how there's a difference, but my nose detects it.
The reason this is so nostalgic is because every year, my family and I go to a Christmas light show that a huge apartment complex puts on. It's pretty cold when we go, so we always buy the apple cider they have for sell there to keep us warm. This scent reminds me of being with my family and Christmas time from going to that light show since I was very young.
This one is candle worthy for me! I recommend it especially for the winter season, but all year round.

Candles by Victoria November Order Review (Written)

Hello everyone! I got my November order in yesterday. I can't wait to let them all cure to do a review...so I'm going to do one now :) I only think a couple need curing.
I'm going to be doing a video review within the next week and I'll post that when I get it uploaded.
And these are all on cold throw. I'm going to melt some of them before my video to get a better thought on them.
So let's get started!

The first thing that I got was another electric tart/candle warmer in black. I already have one, but the top dish broke :(so I ordered a new one.

I got three candles of scents I've already had in scent shots but I'll review them a little again.

9oz Cookies for Santa: Love this! It smells exactly like a sugar cookie with cinnamon or a light cinnamon coated snickerdoodle. A really good scent especially for the holidays but I love it all year round!

8oz Spellbound: This smells SO much different than when I got it in scent shot form in my last order. The other one was like a candy apple; I smelled apple with a strong sugar note. This one smells exactly like a caramel apple. I don't get any of the sugary notes I got in the other one, just caramel and apple. I still really like it though.

8oz Caramelized Pralines: Yum!! This smells just like a caramelized praline. Sweet, nutty, and has a lot of caramel-y goodness. I love this one. It's my boyfriends (2nd) favorite one too.

Onto the scent shots....

Pumpkin Pralines: Victoria's pumpkin scents are so good! This is just pumpkin with that praline/caramel scent. Yummy and great for the fall. I wouldn't get this in a candle though, since I love my straight up caramelized pralines so much :)

Sexy in Stilettos: This is so strong. It gives me a headache :( I haven't even melted this one either. Smelling it on cold throw gives me a headache. It smells good - definitely a "romantic" kind of scent, but my nose just can't handle it so far.

Apple Cinnamon Butter: MMM! This to me smells like you're eating cinnamon/sugar toast with a glass of warm apple cider. Great for the fall and the holidays.

Autumn Leaves: I was really curious about this one. I was wondering how on Earth a candle can smell like leaves...and holy moly, this one does! It smells JUST like leaves in the fall. My boyfriend said he doesn't smell leaves in it, but he likes it. Perfect fall scent.

Cinnamon Donuts: Oh my goodness. I sniffed this and got immediately hungry. This smells SO GOOD. Just like a donut with cinnamon and sugar sprinkled on top. Candle worthy for sure.

Apple Cider: This one is so nostalgic for me. Every year for Christmas, we go to a light show that this huge apartment complex puts on. Everyone that lives there decorates the whole complex exquisitely. (I'm going to do a video on youtube showing it because it's so cool). Since we go in December, it's pretty cold. They sell apple cider there and we always buy some to keep us warm, and this is what it reminds me of. Odd, because it's such a simple scent, but it brings a lot of memories to me. Onto the scent, though, it smells just like hot apple cider. Definitely getting this in a candle to remind me of Christmas and being with the family :)

Sugared Spruce: I was so excited for this one, but all I smell is pine sol. I'm going to let this cure, because it's so raved about smelling like a real Christmas tree. I'll let you know if it improves. I have high hopes it will.

Pumpkin Apple Cinnamon Bread: I'm not a huge fan of this one. It's smells like a cold apple cider with something else in it that I don't like. I don't smell pumpkin or cinnamon, so I'm going to let it cure.

Chocolate Chip Cookie: Uck! It smells so bad cold. I've heard this doesn't smell anything like it's supposed to until it's warmed though, so I'm going to warm it and see how I like it. It just smells like burning plastic and bread to me...odd. I have high hopes for this too.

Pink Cupcake: YUM. YUM. and um...YUM. This is by far one my favorites! This brings memories to me too. My boyfriend and I make a funfetti cake at least once every two months, and that's exactly what this smells like. This is his favorite too. He loves it, and so do i! Comfort candle, here I come :)

French Vanilla Pear: I got this to see if it would smell like a pear/vanilla lotion my friend has, and while this doesn't smell like that, it smells really, really good. A nice non-offensive smell. It smells sweet and fresh at the same time. Love this one.

Granny's Pie Crust: FAVORITE! This is my number one favorite scent now, lol! It smells SO GOOD. The sad part is I can't describe it at all. I don't sniff pie crusts often so I can't relate it to that...all I can say is that this is the best smelling thing in the world. I'm so in love!

Sugar Cookies: I got this for my boyfriend because he loves sugar cookie scents. But, he can't tell the difference of this and Cookies for Santa...and well, neither can I really. It smells just like CFS but a little less on the cinnamon. Still really good though :)

Shamrock Kiss: This was my free scent shot. I was excited because it's pretty raved about and I can see why. It's fresh, but not laundry fresh (I don't like laundry scents). I smell a tiny hint of a fruity scent in it too. I like this a lot!

Whew! I'm going to try and melt some of the ones I'm skeptical about before I do my video review so it'll be more accurate. Thank you so much for reading! :)

And quick question:
What do you ladies (and gents) think about the 16oz country jars? I want to try one out but I hear they don't give a scent throw at all. Should I go for a tureen or mustard jar instead? The 16oz are so much cheaper for a bunch of wax but I've heard they don't throw...
Let me know what you think!
Thank you :)

11/8/11 Scent Of The Day: Snow Drift Berries

Today, Snow Drift Berries from Candles by Victoria (duh!) is melting. I thought I would do my first in-depth review on a specific scent. I'm planning on doing these every so often when I burn a new scent.
I've had Snow Drift Berries since last year (I know, sad) but I haven't gotten around to melt it. And plus, I wasn't a fan of it on cold throw. But to be honest, I'm still not the biggest fan. I like it, don't get me wrong, but I wouldn't get it in a candle. It's minty and has a little undertone of berries. It's crisp and clean and very holiday appropriate. I don't think my nose agrees with minty scents though.
I do recommend this if you like minty, berry-like scents. It's definitely good for the holidays; it's just not my favorite.
